Local Development Plan (LDP)

The Vale of Glamorgan Local Development Plan (LDP) 2011-2026 provides the local planning policy framework for the Vale of Glamorgan and was adopted by the Council on 28th June 2017.

The Plan sets out the vision, objectives, strategy and policies for managing development in the Vale of Glamorgan, and contains a number of local planning policies and makes provision for the use of land for the purposes of housing, employment, retailing, recreation, transport, tourism, minerals, waste, and community uses. It also seeks to identify the infrastructure that will be required to meet the growth anticipated in the Vale of Glamorgan up to 2026, and provides a monitoring framework for assessing the effectiveness of the Plan.

The Vale of Glamorgan Council have produced an online interactive map which contains all the relevant mapping data for the Authority area including the LDP Proposal Map layers and up to date Constraint layers. However, a PDF version of the Proposal and Constraints Maps as adopted in June 2017 can be accessed using the links below.

Housing Land Supply

We are required to ensure that sufficient land is available, or will become available, to maintain a five-year supply of land for housing.

To demonstrate this a joint housing land availability study (JHLAS) is prepared each year. The study is undertaken in conjunction with house-builders' representatives, infrastructure providers and other bodies such as local housing associations.
