National Empty Homes Grant

Grants of up to £25,000 are available to renovate empty properties to make them safe to live in and improve their energy efficiency.

The grant has already delivered positive results, with a recent project transforming a property that had been empty for two years into a modern high-quality home in 2026.

"These improvements have transformed the house into a safe, comfortable and energy-efficient home. Without the grant, completing the renovation to this standard would have been much more difficult and would likely have taken considerably longer. I am very grateful to the Council for its advice and support in helping me restore the property and bring it back into use."

The schedule of works included:

Electrical rewire
Replacement of doors and windows
Internal decoration - plaster/skirting/ceilings
New kitchen and bathroom
Replacement of balustrade
Roof insulation

Bringing a home that had been empty for two years back into use required substantial investment, and the funding helped me complete several essential improvements, including a new kitchen, new windows and doors, plastering throughout the property, and important electrical work".
