One of the most popular year-round destinations in Barry, Knap Gardens provides a sheltered and tranquil setting away from the winds blowing in from Cold Knap. The gardens are characterised by their mature trees, attractive shrub planting, a sunken garden and a gently tinkling fountain, creating interest and enjoyment throughout the seasons.

The area around the Knap was designed and developed under the influence of the Garden City movement. The locality benefits from a number of well-preserved 1920s houses, a further large public park, and a small range of local shops within easy walking distance, contributing to its distinctive character and sense of place.

Whether in summer or winter, Knap Gardens is a popular destination for families and dog walkers seeking a leisurely stroll or a refreshing walk.

The focal point of the gardens is a harp-shaped lake inhabited by ducks and swans and, during the summer months, the occasional remote-controlled boat.
