Water safety

  • check weather and tide conditions before entering the water
  • choose lifeguarded beaches where possible
  • avoid swimming alone
  • stay within your depth
  • be aware of currents and changing conditions

In an emergency:

  • float on your back to stay calm
  • signal for help
  • call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard
